[His Name Is Sometimes Given As ʿAbd al-ʿĀlī or ʿAbd al-Mutaʿāl] b. 1246/1830-31, d. 27 Dhū’l-qaʿda 1296/22 November 1878.

The youngest son of Ibn Idrīs. After his father’s departure for the Yemen, he remained in Mecca under the guardianship of Muḥammad b. ʿAlī al-Sanūsī (q.v.). He accompanied the latter to Cyrenaica in 1269/1852-53, staying with him until his death at Jaghbūb in 1276/1859.

He moved to Cairo where he was joined by ʿAlī ʿAbd al-Ḥaqq al-Qūṣī (q.v.). He …
