Little is known of his life. Al-Saʿdī (T. al-Sūdān, 322) refers to him as “our shaykh”, and describes him as one of the last shaykhs of Timbuktu. His vers. of the Sughrā of al-Sanūsī was highly regarded, especially by the Fulani students.
