al-Azharī, or Soufiane Salime Dramé


Born into a well-known family of scholars in the town of Jallānī, some thirty miles from Kayes. His brother Zayd founded a school there in 1993, which now has over 1,300 pupils. Sufyān is principal of the Madrasat al-Hilāl al-Islāmī.
