The digitization of the Gurū Granth text in an editable format for use with a personal computer or similar device was started by Jaswant Singh from La Palma, California, USA, in the early 1990s, with encouragement from and under the guidance of Doctor Kulbir Singh Thind of San Mateo, California, United States.
