The Italian painter, sculptor, architect and poet M. di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni was born on March 6, 1475 in Caprese, the second of five children born into a family of the Florentine upper middle class. He died on February 18, 1564 at Rome and was buried in the church of Santa Croce in Florence.
