Joseph Bryennius, born sometime between 1340 and 1350, probably in Constantinople, was a Byzantine Hesychast monk and preacher. From 1382/83 to 1402/3 he lived in Crete, which was then under Venetian rule, and worked as a missionary for the Orthodox Church. …
