The reign of Takla Giyorgis I (known as Faṣṣāme Mangǝst, ‘Last of the line’) marks the end of the Solomonic monarchy in Ethiopia. He reigned six times: 1779-84, 1788-9, 1794-5, 1795-6, 1798-9, and 1800, the year of his death. His official Chronicle is one of the major sources on his first reign, 1779-84.
