Most of the available information about Hernán López de Yanguas appears in his own works. The explicit of the first edition of his Triumphos de locura (‘The triumphs of madness’), from about 1521, states that this poem was written in September 1520, ‘when its author was 33’. Since he was appointed executor of a will dated 1543, he must have died after this date.
