Commentary
The inscription, engraved on the lower half of a statue, is written in Samalian Aramaic (see COS COSB.2.36). It was discovered in the German excavations at Zinjirli. Bar-Rakib, the son of Panamuwa II, probably raised this monument early in his reign to memorialize his father because of his sudden and unexpected deat…
