Commentary

The editio princeps is found in F. M. Fales (Fales et al. 2005:653–655, color photography, hand-copy, transliteration, translation). This version will be followed here, with some updatings. The tablet was retrieved in 1995 during a salvage excavation by a French-Italian archeological team at Tell Shiukh Fawqani on the Upper Euphrates (cf. Bachelot and Fales 2005, esp. pp. 616 ff.).
