Hammi-ishtamar, a military leader among the Yamina, wrote this letter to Zimri-Lim. Hammi-ishtamar was responding to the king of Mari, who seems to have been concerned about the arrival of the Elamite troops along the banks of the Euphrates. The king had insisted that the Elamites would not differentiate between the Yamina and Simal populations, implying that the Yamina had as much to be concerned about as the Simal king, Zimri-Lim.
