The name kĕdār-lāʿomer, ‘Chedorlaomer’ king of Elam (Gen. 14.1, Gen. 4, Gen. 5, Gen. 9, Gen. 17; 1QGenAp 21:23), is to be interpreted as a combination of the noun kudur (Akk.) or kutir/kut.e.r (Elamite), ‘protector’ (see R.
