I. Name

The name of king Solomon has, among other things (HALAT 1425), been interpreted as related to an Arabic deity s/šlmn (M. Höfner, RAAM 372; WbMyth. I, 466–467). This deity can, probably, be equated with the West Semitic god Shalman /Shalaman.

II. Identity
