Kūshyār b. Labbān

Abū l-Ḥasan Kūshyār b. Labbān b. Bāshahrī al-Jīlī was one of several eminent scientists patronised by the Būyid (r. 320–454/932–1062) and Ziyārid (r. 319–c.483/931–c.1090) courts. His contributions to astronomy and mathematics earned him the respect of his colleagues and an important place in the history of science in mediaeval Islam.
