¶ [1268cc] By Sunday, the first of Shaʿban/8 August 1910, because of the intensity of the cholera outbreak, thirty-seven people in the city of Kabul itself, not counting its environs, (had died) of this all-consuming disease and (the mortality) continued until the twentieth of Ramazan/25 September 1910, fluctuating between a few and many deaths per day. On some days only a very few would die and on others seven or eight would depart for eternity.
