Marsilius studied in Paris, M.A. 1362; studied theology from 1366; various university offices: rector (1367, 1371) and procurator of the “English nation” (1363, 1373, 1374, 1375). In Rome Marsilius lived through the schism between Urban VI (1378–1389) and Clement VII (1378–1394; Papacy: II), in whose favor the University of Paris decided in 1379, under pressure from the king of France.
